Yala Scuba Diving - Treasure Hunt
Overview
Yala scuba diving tour based on around the Kirinda lighthouse and it is 8 Km away from the Yala. presently Kirinda smallest fishing village in southern coast but historically Kirinda was an ancient iconic trading port in Southern Coast and marine historical documents say there were many commercial wreck around the Kirinda lighthouse. There are two rock reefs: Great basses Maha (Ravana base) and Little basses (Little Ravana base). Those two bases mysterious none experience sailors or boatmen commonly get accident in between these two reefs. Those rock reefs named by Great king Ravana and some folktales say those Ravana base are Great Ravana’s entrance of his secret tunnels.
Yala diving tour based on exploring the “Copper Wreck” at little basses reef and it is a wonderful experience explore the Dutch-origin wood ship. Little basses reef situated 9 NM away from the shore and it is 45 min - 1 hrs boat ride. diving period November – April. Copper ships made in copper plates and finally wreck given to beauty to ocean and many colourful fish around the ship. You can explore beauty of Ocean bottom with Sri Lanka professional diving team and diving depth around 18–20 meters. Kirinda diving site can rate 3.5–4.0. Yala diving experience different things to do in Yala other than Jeep safari in Yala National Park.

Schedule
- Welcome to the guests by diving master and introduce his crew.
- Take the guests diving room and 10–15 min briefing about the diving site and safety.
- Select the diving equipment’s’ and prepare for diving.
- 45 min – 1 hr boat ride from the shore to little basses reef.
- Quick briefing before starting the Yala diving tour and check the gears again.
- Diving master after the confirming about the current situation of the water, safety and start the diving after
- It is two dives.
