Overview

Kandy trekking tour in Alagalla Mountain based on Pothapitiya city which 25 Km away from the Kandy city. Trekking and hiking tours in Kandy are the best way to explore the nature and viewpoint of the Kandy. Alagalla mounting is not just a mountain, and it is highly significant military point over 200 years ago during the Kandy kingdom. Alagalla Mountain–Balana Pass military point was a key strategic military base when was the British invasion taken place in Sri Lanka. Alagalla mountain bio-diversified place and there are much endemic flora and fauna in Alagalla mountain. It is a sharp point mountain and approx. Distance of the hike about 2 Km and total trekking & hiking distance about 6 Km. it is soft trekking in Kandy.

    Morning Tour starts at 9 a.m. pick up you by Tuk Tuk from the hotel (You will meet the local guide at 10.30 a.m.)

    • Alagalla Mountain Trekking will end around 12.30 p.m. and en route to visit to local house.
    • After the local lunch, you will proceed to Balana Pass by Tuk Tuk.
    • Explore the ancient Balana Pass military base.
    • Reports to Balana Railway station at 2.10 p.m. and returns train to Kandy at 2.40 p.m.
    • Approx. duration of train journey 20 – 30 min.

    FAQ

    Yes, it is private guided trekking tour in Kandy

    Well, we are recommending do the trek between 11 a.m.–12 a.m. because you need to hike summit of the Alagalla mountain and it is sharp point, hence surface should be dry and clear vision about the environment. Usually, Alagalla mountain misty area until 9 a.m.

    Well, most of the time evening raining and in case if the environment got dark, then hard to find the way back because of mist and there is no return train after the 2.30 p.m.

    No! there are 4–5 scorpion and leaches species live in the Alagalla mountain range and those are very active during the raining time. 

    Possibility of steady can be poor because of the wet surface of the mountain. Therefore, we do not recommend do the trekking during the terrible weather.

    Well, in case if train missed, then you need to proceed to Kandy by Tuk Tuk. That cost you need to bear. Our guide will take you according to scheduled time and return transfer to Kandy cost would be USD $10 - $15. (Per Tuk Tuk and maximum 2 adults and 2 kids)

    Yes! Alagalla mountain trekking & hike is highly sensitive activity with weather. We have cancelled many bookings because of the terrible weather (rain). We are highly concern our valued customers safety. Therefore, we do not operate the activity. We will cancel at the last minute and meantime we will pass the message to the customer as soon as possible. 

    If we cancel the activity, we will offer a full refund of the cost or alternative activity in Kandy or different activity in any convenient place of the country, while you are enjoying the holiday.

    We will keep post before the operation takes place in 24 hrs. If you did not receive any message from our end, that’s mean scheduled operation of activity takes place as it is.
