Since ancient time Negombo is the key point made a supply chain to Colombo harbour and many nationalities used to accommodate around the Negombo. specially Persians and Arabians domain the Negombo but later on Portuguese, Dutch and English cultures also blend with the Negombo local culture. That’s the key reason Negombo became unique and you cannot taste cuisines or community cultures nowhere in Sri Lanka. They have unique methods of fishing in sea & lagoon. Negombo fishers are the only fishers’ singing songs while they are working like Caribbean’s. it is interesting experience explore about the Negombo fishers living style. 

Negombo experience tour combined with fishing, Lagoon boat tour, local fish market visit, cooking demonstration and social experience. My Ceylon Adventures developed “Negombo experience” make a real local and follow the Negombo style while you in Sri Lanka.

Fishing: Negombo experiences start from the local fisher’s house at 6 a.m. and you will experience how the local fisher leave the home and day began. It is an experience about the custom of the local fishers’. Negombo Fishing tour 3–4 hrs and you will report shore again around 10 a.m. 

Negombo Lagoon Boat Tour: You will continue the Fishing tour to explore about the Negombo lagoon and you will explore crab and prawn framing in lagoon. You will experience nature and landscaping of the Negombo Lagoon. You will have some refreshments during the boat tour. 

Local Fish market visit: after Negombo lagoon boat trip next stop is local fish market and you will 30 minutes’ walk with local fisher and experience the how the local fish market functioning and salty fish making process. After the local fisher’s demonstration, you will return to starting point (fishing house) by boat. 

Cooking Demonstration: fisher wife makes a simple cooking demonstration makes a local rice & curry lunch using that you caught fish. You will experience using spices and health factors of spices. Until your lunch preparing you will relax with chilled beer with sea food platter. You will taste the local spicy lunch.

Social Experience: After the local lunch you will walk along the beach with fisher to experience the fishers’ evening spending after fishing. You can experience a gathering group of local fishers preparing the fishing nets and very relaxing way. Enjoying the evening sharing funny and incident happened during the fishing. You will experience co-operation among the fishers while preparing fishing nets for the next fishing tour with other fishers.

After the social experience, you will return to the hotel and that experience all about the snapshot of the living style of Negombo fishers.
